seated at a cafe structured like a giant colosseum. i see my step dad there—he’s asking me something about programming. he asks how, in Rust, to handle complex state and combinatorial explosion when making art or games. i tell him that’s why i don’t use rust anymore and i use Lua instead which treats everything like an untyped hash map. my mom asks, “do you have to pay for the array?” for a second i don’t know how to respond and then i say “well that’s not really how it works, arrays are a built in feature of the language”
